  • Easy Peasy Bottle Tutorial

    Easy Peasy Bottle Tutorial

I just was creating some bottles for my website and

figured it was time for a blog post ~

Soooo I decided to take some pictures along the way ~

They are crummy pictures because it was late and the

    lighting stunk ~

Anyway they are super duper easy but really fun and

you can be creative with tons of variations ~

First gather your stuff to use ~

I am using vintage bridal lace, crinkled seam binding,

a vintage skeleton key and vintage jewelry for this bottle ~

Then I cut the lace to fit the bottle and used

Modge Podge to make it stick to the bottle ~

Next I tied on a vintage skeleton key with

tea dyed and crinkled ribbon ~

The tutorial is here for the ribbon ~

And last you just hot glue on a vintage piece of jewelry ~

Here are some other variations that I have done recently ~

It is fun to gather old pieces of lace, ribbons, broken jewelry

    and just start creating !

{ I have had tons of questions on where to get the

    bottles ~ I just find them at flea markets }

  • Vintage Bling

    Vintage Bling

Every time I go to Canton, or to any flea market for that matter, I have something in particular that I am really really hunting for ~ I am always looking for old china with pink roses, architectural finds, lace, old linens ~ all of those things are so much fun to look for but this time I was looking for vintage rhinestone jewelry ~ It is so hard to find lately ~ I guess I am not the only one looking for it ~

I hit a treasure chest at one of the vendors ~ he had a bag stuffed away because he didn't think anybody would want it ~ it was full of broken rhinestone jewelry ~

I was sooo excited because that is what I was looking for so I can embellish more soldered charms with it ~

Then I spotted a vintage tiara that was kind of shoved to the side and asked him about it ~ he didn't think anyone would want that either ~ I almost bought a new one because I love them but I am so glad to have found a vintage one !! That is even better ~
You will see a lot of this tiara in my pictures :o)

I am not sure what the "thing" will be next month but it is fun to dig in those hidden spot because you never know what you will find . . . .

  • ~ Vintage Pieces Make a Lampshade ~

    ~ Vintage Pieces Make a Lampshade ~

I have been on the hunt for awhile at flea markets, antique shows and pretty much everywhere to find an old dress form and old party dresses in pink ~ it is alot easier said than done ~ but.... in my travels I found the prettiest odds and ends of old pieces ~ today I decided to make this lampshade out of various things I have found ~ I took an old pink dress, cut it down and added a vintage crocheted collar to the top edge ~ to finish it off I put a vintage rhinestone hair clip at the front ~ I always am picking up old rhinestone jewelry pieces because you can do so much with them and I love a little bling !!! ~ I really like how it came out and am kind of want to keep it for my new shabby office but for awhile it can be yours at www.katiesrosecottage.com ~

  • Burlap Rose Tutorial

    Burlap Rose Tutorial

I wanted to give you a quick

tutorial on how to make a burlap

    rolled rose ~

Do you notice all my tutorials

    are quick and easy :)

I don't like anything that takes

a gazillion years to do ~

The first thing you do is cut a strip

of burlap fabric or use burlap ribbon ~

My strip is about 2 inches wide ~

I forgot to measure the length but

it is about 1/2 yard ~

Tie a knot in the end ~

Kind of fold it in half and twist while

gluing with hot glue as you go around ~

    Continue until you have made

it the size that you want it to be ~

Then take the end and glue to the

    back of the rose ~

On this one I added a piece of

vintage jewelry for some bling ~

You can use these for tons of things

Here are just a few examples ~

    Have fun creating!!

  • Charm Tutorial

    Charm Tutorial

I have been having fun making charms so I

wanted to show you how to do them ~

The first thing is to get a blank charm ~

Then you decide what you want to put in the charm as far as

an image ~ I used a little piece of vintage sheet music

and a rose charm that I cut the ring off of~

It is kind of tricky getting the image to fit

exactly on the inside so I just

measured the inside and cut ~

I kept trimming it until it fit ~

You can find tons and tons of images online and some are

    already sized for you ~

The next step is to glue your image down and

    then glue your

little charm to the top of that ~

I used jewelry tweezers to hold the

charm and place it which helps a ton ~

Then I used a product called DG3 Art Gel

( you can get it on amazon )

This you will use to fill in your charm ~

It may get little bubbles so you just

poke those with a paint brush or a

straight pin to pop them ~

    There are several different

    products out there right now

that work great to fill the charm in ~

The gel shrinks a bit so after it dries

you may need to put another layer ~

Give it a couple hours drying time

    between laters ~

    That is it !!

There are tons and tons of different things

you can do with the charm blanks ~

You can find some on my website

and I will be adding more ~
