    Dallas Home & Gift Show

It is the Dallas Home & Gift Show time again and I was so anxious to see what the new stuff is going to be for next year ~

"Market" is only twice a year in Dallas ~ once in January and then in June ~ We displayed in January but aren't this time ~ We will be back there in January again though :)

There were alot of bright colors but my favorite were the creamy items ~ They were everywhere which thrilled me because I LOVE them ~

Here are just a few pictures of some yummy things ~ some of which we will have in our shop ~

I want this sofa ~ It had a print on it too which is hard to see ~

This is a lamp that was beyond amazing !

There is free food and drinks everywhere ~ this is at one of the showrooms for a Mexican lunch ~ You definitely do not leave hungry at the end of the day ~

Well I am off to scour my catalogs that I collected and hit it again tomorrow and Sunday
    ~

I am supposed to be in Las Vegas with my hubby but the flights were packed full so market it is ~

    It is fun though !

  • Dallas Gift Market

    Dallas Gift Market

I look so forward to going to the Dallas gift markets that are a couple times a year ~ the Jan. market started today ~ I was ready to go bright and early this morning although I was kind of stressed a little bit when the news this morning said that over 50,000 people have come to Dallas to go ~ I am not much for huge crowds, I am a "find the hidden treasure kind of gal" ~ but..... off I went to see what the new trends are ~

It was tons of fun and I am ready to go back on Friday, I can't wait !!! There is so much to see !! I saw alot of soft pink Christmas trees so that made me happy ~ this show shows alot of holiday for next Christmas ~ ahhhh!!! next Christmas... I need spring and summer first, my Christmas isn't even up in the attic yet ~

This is a picture of one of the three buildings and this is just a teeny tiny portion ~

I will show you more on Friday when I get home ~ I am bound and determined to be there at 7:00 in the morning so I can park somewhat closer than the top floor of the parking complex that is way too far away ~ I also want the Starbucks coffee and Krispy Kreme donuts that they have ~ I am thinking I will hopefully walk of the million calories of the donut ~

    yummy stuff !!

The pictures are with my Iphone so they aren't

very good but I couldn't resist taking some ~

There is no way to see it all

    am done blogging :)

    Dallas Home & Gift Show

I got to go to the Dallas Home & Gift Show

the last couple of days and just loved

items were all over the place ~

I loved this light fixture and the

  • Architectural Salvage Rocks!!

    Architectural Salvage Rocks!!

    My youngest daughter, Stephanie

and her husband Noah just bought

    a cottage home that they

are going to redo and decorate

in a vintage cottage style ~

We went to the coolest store in

    Dallas today called

Discount Home Warehouse Architectural Salvage ~

They go into old homes and salvage all of the

really amazing old things and then

sell them at their huge shop ~

I am thinking that would be the

    most fun job!!

Steph & Noah want to replace all of the

interior doors with old vintage chippy doors ~

This is the "door room" ~

There were some really neat old

    pillars and columns but they

needed to find a vintage pedestal sink ~

They ended up with the one that Stephanie

is trying in the 2nd picture ~

Noah truly needs to be an

    American Picker because he

    rocks at it!!

    Decisions .... decisions ...

They have a bunch of clawfoot tubs, mantels

for amazing prices, tons of old metal,

    wood shutters for $10 each!!

Once again these are crummy pictures

with my Iphone ~ I am going to

start bringing my camera with me

    on these adventures ~

Dallas has some really fun places to

explore ~ We went to some wonderful

antique shops too but they were kind

    of pricey ~

    Chat soon!!

Dallas Gift Market * Day 2

Ohhhh what a fun day !!! Market Day 2 !!!
Remember how I said I was going to get up bright and early to beat the crowds, well.... I didn't ~ I got there about 9:00 in the morning and hoped to get a decent parking spot but knew it would probably be on the top floor of the parking garage ~ the parking garage is off in the distance on the left of this picture ~

Well 30 minutes later we got routed in front of the Dallas Children's Hospital to park, which is 2 exits away from the Market Center ~ it was a nice brisk walk in the freezing weather to the buildings ~

Once I got in, I decided that I was not leaving until I saw pretty much everything ~ it is HUGE so I was there all day ~

There were tons of pretties and I definitely spent my allotment ~ I can't wait to get it all !!! There were alot of apothecaries and cloches, which I love ! They had everything in them and they are great because you can change them with the seasons ~ I also noticed alot of birds and bird nests which are so sweet ~

I love anything Wendy Addison ! The pink Christmas in my previous post and this Christmas tree are all her things ~

    Animal Print Bags

Besides crowns, skeleton keys and chandeliers, it was all about animal print bags at the Dallas market this year ~

At first I didn't really like them but they kind of grew on me after seeing them everywhere ~ This is a carry on bag for the airlines that I got that rolls, I really like it !

This is a picture of my daughters and niece eating ice cream with their new animal prints ~ don't they look so thrilled :o)

  • Getting Ready for the Show

    Getting Ready for the Show

Today I went out to find some displays to use at the Gift Show in Dallas in January ~

Oh my goodness it is getting closer and closer !!

I love Dorothy's treasures at the Shabby Y in Lone Star Antique Mall ~ I was really excited that she was there because she is so very talented and helped me with ideas ~

I ended up getting some awesome frames that I will be using for displaying jewelry and a glittery pink Paris sign ~ My display spot is only 3 feet so I have to think creatively ~

Make sure and visit The Vintage Rose Boutiques blog for updates on the gals progress getting ready for the show ~

I have a new website called Katies Rose Cottage Designs that is just for our new line of jewelry debuting at the show ~ The website is there but will not have products for about a month ~

These are some pictures of the Shabby Y ~

  • Burlap Number Bucket Tutorial

    Burlap Number Bucket Tutorial

When I was at the Dallas Gift Market this last week I

saw a bunch of burlap numbered things ~

    I LOVE them !

Since I have burlap around and

buckets around I thought it would be fun

    to recreate that look ~

Here is a quick tutorial on how to do them ~

    It is super duper easy!

    1. Cut a piece of burlap a size that would fit

your bucket ~ I cut it then fray it a bit ~

    2. Paint an area on the front of your burlap

that is larger than your number stencil ~

It doesn't matter what brand paint you use ~

This is some I had ~

    3. Lay down your stencil and paint it in whatever

color you would like ~ I used black ~

    4. After it dries then I used Modge Podge

on the back of the burlap ~

    5. Place it on your bucket and

smooth out the bubbled areas ~

That is all and it is super quick !

If you don't want to make your

own I have them on my website, here ~

  • Craft Night

    Craft Night

Last night I got to go

    to Lisa's house for a

Christmas crafting night ~ It is

so much fun to get together with

people who "get" the same stuff that

    you do ~

Her house was recently in the

    Dallas Morning News with some

beautiful pictures of her holiday decor ~

Well needless to say I knew that

I would pretty much not get any crafting

done because I really wanted to

look at all of her beautiful

    Christmas decorating and awesome

    vintage vignettes everywhere ~

Here are just a few of them ~

~ this is above the bathtub ~

    ~ over a doorway ~

~ this is the top of her headboard

with a mirror above it ~

It ended up that everyone pretty

much admired her home in awe, ate, chatted

    and watched Charlene make

a necklace for Lisa out of some

    of Lisa's vintage finds ~

    ( Lisa, Charlene & Cindy )

I have been wanting to make a

necklace with an old coin purse

for awhile so it was really fun to watch ~

    Lisa's studio is totally amazing!

    Right before we left Cindy

    had Lisa autograph her copy

    of the newspaper ❤ ~

    We were totally goofing around

with having her sign the paper

just because it was too fun ~

You've gotta love crafting with friends!

  • College Move In Day

    College Move In Day

Last week we moved my youngest daughter, Stephanie, into her town house at college ~ it is her sophomore year at Dallas Baptist University ~ We all adore her school, it is just the best so she was pretty excited ~ all summer she has been going to flea markets collecting furniture and then the girls would come over and paint ~ they had to furnish the entire thing so they collected all summer long ~

This is a picture of 4 of the 6 girls who will be living together ~

I have shown the school in other blog posts but this is a picture of the outside of her town house ~ these are my baby girls all grown up ~ wow !! where does the time go ....

We rented a U-Haul to get it there all in one trip ~ it is just about 45 minutes from us so it isn't far but it was alot easier to do it that way ~

The day was sooooo stinking hot !!! It was 107 degrees not counting the humidity ~ I think it was like 112 degrees ~ thus the saggy pants I had on, I think they were melting off ~
We recruited grandpa too but I was a little worried about him with working in the heat ~

Stephanie was just a little overwhelmed with it all :O)

After a few hours she was ready to have it all done .....

I will have pics of it all decorated soon ~ they unpacked and decorated all the same day and grocery shopped ~ they cracked me up trying to get it all done in one day ~

    Ta ta for now ~

The picture above is outside one of the student centers ~

This is a picture in front of her townhouse on campus that she will live in next school year ~

The school has gazebos everywhere and this is a bridge that crosses one of the ponds on campus ~ The picture is from left to right : me, my husband Dana, our daughter Kristin, our daughter Stephanie, my dad and my mom ~

This is a picture with my daughter Stephanie's boyfriend Noah ~ I think they are on a slant because Noah looks really really tall and my husband looks really short, he is short but not that short :o)

  • Market Preparations

    Market Preparations

If you are new to my blog ~ I am going to the Dallas Home and Gift Show in January with some other talented ladies ~ This is an update from our blog at Vintage Rose Boutiques ~

I just wanted to give you a little update on our market preparations.
We have all been working getting our lines ready to go which is very exciting !

One of the things we are doing in between working on products is trying to
figure out what to decorate our booth with. We want it to have a Cottage feel and are each finding things that will display our products as well as keep to this look.

As we have been out and about over the few weeks we have found things and created things that will be just perfect.
These are just some ideas of items that we love and think about using but know
that the booth is not huge so we can't bring everything.

  • French Farmhouse

    French Farmhouse

I went to the Dallas World Trade Center today to just walk around and get inspired ~
It is full of the latest trends in home decor and I was kind of surprised to see the French Farmhouse look literally everywhere ~
I like it alot although it kind of reminds me of about 20 years ago to some degree ~ I guess decorating styles come back ~

This Friday, Katies Rose Cottage and the shops at Make Mine Pink are doing "French Farmhouse" for the Pink Friday theme ~

Here are a few pics that I took at market today ~
