  • Vintage Pink Christmas Balls

    Vintage Pink Christmas Balls

Every year at Christmas there is something that I kind of have an obsession about and this year it is vintage Christmas balls and anything with German glass glitter ~

When we were at Canton for our one day ( not near enough time ), another thing that I found was a basket of vintage pink Christmas balls ~ First of all, vintage Christmas balls go for a premium here ~ I saw them for $24 a box of 8 at most places !! Well I was so excited to find this basket full of PINK so I had to ask how much it was even though I figured it would be too expensive ~ It was $30 for the whole basket full including the basket ~ I was sooo excited and snatched it up real quick ~

I washed some of my ugly orange ones I got last year and now they are a gorgeous mercury glass ~ I combined them with my new old pink ones in an apothecary jar ~

Apothecary jars are also one of my favorite things so I have quite a few of them around my house ~ they are wonderful because you can change them for the seasons ~

I also found this petite apothecary jar at Canton this month ~ I just fell in love with it because it is so cute with the vintage pink and white buttons ~
    It is available here ~

    Chat with you soon !

  • Easy Peasy Bottle Tutorial

    Easy Peasy Bottle Tutorial

I just was creating some bottles for my website and

figured it was time for a blog post ~

Soooo I decided to take some pictures along the way ~

They are crummy pictures because it was late and the

    lighting stunk ~

Anyway they are super duper easy but really fun and

you can be creative with tons of variations ~

First gather your stuff to use ~

I am using vintage bridal lace, crinkled seam binding,

a vintage skeleton key and vintage jewelry for this bottle ~

Then I cut the lace to fit the bottle and used

Modge Podge to make it stick to the bottle ~

Next I tied on a vintage skeleton key with

tea dyed and crinkled ribbon ~

The tutorial is here for the ribbon ~

And last you just hot glue on a vintage piece of jewelry ~

Here are some other variations that I have done recently ~

It is fun to gather old pieces of lace, ribbons, broken jewelry

    and just start creating !

{ I have had tons of questions on where to get the

    bottles ~ I just find them at flea markets }

  • Vintage Bling

    Vintage Bling

Every time I go to Canton, or to any flea market for that matter, I have something in particular that I am really really hunting for ~ I am always looking for old china with pink roses, architectural finds, lace, old linens ~ all of those things are so much fun to look for but this time I was looking for vintage rhinestone jewelry ~ It is so hard to find lately ~ I guess I am not the only one looking for it ~

I hit a treasure chest at one of the vendors ~ he had a bag stuffed away because he didn't think anybody would want it ~ it was full of broken rhinestone jewelry ~

I was sooo excited because that is what I was looking for so I can embellish more soldered charms with it ~

Then I spotted a vintage tiara that was kind of shoved to the side and asked him about it ~ he didn't think anyone would want that either ~ I almost bought a new one because I love them but I am so glad to have found a vintage one !! That is even better ~
You will see a lot of this tiara in my pictures :o)

I am not sure what the "thing" will be next month but it is fun to dig in those hidden spot because you never know what you will find . . . .

  • Vintage Farmhouse Tools

    Vintage Farmhouse Tools

I am loving these vintage farmhouse tools!
As I was packing up shipping boxes today,
my mom rediscovered these amazing vintage tools
in the depths of our workshop. What an awesome find!

It is so much fun to find treasures, but it is even
more rewarding to discover them for a second time!

I have to admit, it was tempting to keep these for my own house!
But, I couldn't keep these treasures to myself,
they are just too vintage not to share.
I hope you love them as much as we do!

    ~Kristin

    We still want the

    We will be using
    drop cloth fabrics,
    tea dyed fabrics, vintage laces
    and tattered roses in
    our new creations ~

  • Making the New Look Old

    Making the New Look Old

I just love these sweet little salt and pepper shakers and wanted to do something fun with them ~

Vintage buttons and vintage skeleton keys are some of my favorite things ~ So I decided to combine them into one sweet little vignette piece ~

I bough this Patina kit at Michaels ~
The first thing that you do is paint the entire shiny lid with a coat of the Blackened Bronze ~

The next step is to put a light coat of Patina Blue Antiquing Solution while the bronze coat is still tacky ~

Then when the lids are dry I fill them with vintage white buttons and tie the lid with seam binding and a vintage skeleton key ~

    My youngest daughter, Stephanie

are going to redo and decorate

in a vintage cottage style ~

We went to the coolest store in

    Dallas today called

Discount Home Warehouse Architectural Salvage ~

They go into old homes and salvage all of the

really amazing old things and then

sell them at their huge shop ~

I am thinking that would be the

    most fun job!!

Steph & Noah want to replace all of the

interior doors with old vintage chippy doors ~

This is the "door room" ~

There were some really neat old

    pillars and columns but they

needed to find a vintage pedestal sink ~

I have done a post before on

wanted to inspire you again on

    finding vintage leather bags

    and embellishing them with doilies

    and lace ~

I found these at a flea market

recently but I have to say,

    here in Texas, vintage leather

bags are very few and far between ~

I think they are kind of sought after!

It is fun to grab a pile of

    doilies and just play around

    with placement until you like

    how they look ~

I glued mine on with Fabri Fix

that works great with fabric and leather ~

I also added a flower to the front

    that was also created using

    vintage laces and doilies ~

    before ~
