I am so excited to have a sweet friend make mosaics for my website ~ her name is Linda Smith and she does such beautiful work and combines the perfect shabby chic colors ~ Sometimes it is hard to find someone that combines colors in mosaics that really go with a shabby romantic style but she captures it perfect !!! I will be putting this window on my website in the next day or so ~Make sure you see it on my website so you can enlarge it and see the colors and work more clearly ~
I have just finished a wonderful shabby chic romantic bulletin board ~ It has been made out of an old window frame that has been painted white and has carved rose appliques added to the front ~ the fabric is Rachel Ashwell's pink rosebud fabric that is no longer available ~ satin ribbon and vintage buttons are added to the front ~ this bulletin board is available in the Romantic Office section of my website ~http://www.katiesrosecottage.com

just put 2 sweet in pink purses on my website under the Romantic Home category ~
they are just as yummy as can be and ohhh so soft ~
If you want to add a wonderful shabby chic look to almost anything, add a carved rose applique ~ they make the plainest piece of furniture, baskets, or boxes so pretty and perfect for your romantic shabby decor ~the appliques can be painted any color and then distressed ~ We will have some more in 1 1/2 weeks under our appliques category ~ We have rose wreaths, swags and other roses ~
I just love vintage wood chippy frames ~ they add such a wonderful charm to any cottage chic, shabby chic and romantic decor ~ We have just added some to our Vintage Finds category along with some chippy wood petite mirrors ~

I just love love love pretty magazines !! This months editions of Home Companion and Southern Lady are just beautiful with tons of yummy pictures and ideas ~ Make Mine Pink has full page ads in both magazines that are so pretty !!! My favorite magazines for Romantic, Cottage Chic and Shabby Chic decor are these as well as Romantic Homes and Romantic Country ~
If you have visited Katies Rose Cottage anytime you will know that I LOVE to find old and new boxes ~ I love to take them and add appliques or decals to them, paint them and distress them to make the perfect organizing boxes for any room of your shabby chic cottage home ~
these are great for not only organizing but to put in the bathroom as a pretty place to roll up guest towels or to use as display pieces with candles sitting in them and maybe a bouquet of roses ~ the ideas are endless ~

For awhile we have had a pretty much
pinky and white shabby chic style home but I wanted
to redecorate so we are slowly
but surely taking room by room ~
I have always loved to change stuff!!
Anyway, so I decided to go from my complete
white white things
to creams but still keep some white here and there ~
I got a wild hair to tea dye
our white slipcovered sofa and chair in the bathtub ~
It came out cool but truly, a whitish couch with dogs and
well ..... pretty much people too, doesn't work too well ~
I also took some white wood pieces that I had and made
them a creamy color and
really love how they came out!!
Then I wanted to change my wall decor
behind my couch but am kind of
on a personal challenge to not spend alot of money ~
Sooo.... I dug in my own stash
of stuff I have had around waiting for a new home
and created something completely new with
stuff getting really dusty out in my shop ~
It has been so much fun and even more fun
recreating with what I already had!!
After Christmas is over and my decorations are down
I will show you
my new mantel decor and other things ~
I just love the beautiful pink handpainted rose items that I added to my website tonight ~ the roses are just precious and the colors are perfect for any shabby chic, romantic or cottage home ~ they are so soft and yummy !!!
Today I spent the day getting ready for the Make Mine Pink, "The Garden Path", Pink Friday event ~
I wanted to take you along so that you could see the journey of recreating a flea market find into something special for your cottage home ~
The first thing you do is find what you want to work on ~ it is getting harder and harder to find these awesome totes like the large one that I have shown ~ It is very old so the wood is rough and weathered ~ I really don't know what it was used for but I think it would be perfect for putting your flowers in as you cut them and get ready for a bouquet ~
The next step is to glue on embellishments if you want to ~ I love them because they add such a shabby chic look ~
Then you prime your piece with a good primer ~ my very favorite is Kilz oil based because it covers so well ~
After that is dry, which takes a few steps to do all sides, you paint on whatever color you would like and when that dries you distress it with sandpaper ~ I use flat paint because I like the look of it ~
I love it when the weather is sunny because it makes the best painting days !!

Over the weekend I went to the sale at Cottage Panache and fell in love with all of her gorgeous things in her shop ~
I got to get some of Lisa's wonderful treasures before she sold out ~
Soooo I have always been a pink shabby chic girl but Oh my gosh my heart skips a beat over creams and tarnished silver ~
Rene at Miss Gracie's House has me completely inspired to redo my bedroom, well whole house, in creamy yumminess ~
I have noticed that alot that I get for my website has these colors too ~ I will never get away from a little touch of pink though as you can see from the pictures ~
The last post showed some of the things I was working on and these are some of the things I got over the weekend and just listed at Katies Rose Cottage ~

I wanted to show you what I did with that sweet rose drawer pull ~ by the way, they are here and I have about 24 available ~ I added it to this old table top cabinet that was made from a vintage medicine cabinet ~ there is also a rose wreath applique for wonderful shabby chic charm ~
I am back from spending some wonderful time with my mom, dad and sister ~ we spent part of our time together camping in east Texas at Canton, one of our favorite huge flea markets ~ we got to camp right there and just spent hours and hours browsing all of the flea market goodies and also other beautiful shabby chic things ~ I painted some of the things I found today and just listed them on my website ~ I also found alot of old beautiful rose china and so many other goodies ~

Vintage sewing machine drawers are awesome!!! Whenever I find them I grab them because they make a wonderful shabby chic way to organize things ~ they are perfect for your craft room, office, bathroom or so many other things ~ I love to paint them pink and white and mix and match them ~ they add a romantic cottage look to your home ~

I just spent a day in New Orleans with my husband on a work trip, it was quick but fun ~ we walked our legs off in the few hours we had to explore !!!
I just love the architecture of the buildings there and the colors are sooo perfectly shabby chic :o)
The homes were so interesting to me because of the shutters on the windows and doors that can be closed completely over them ~ I was dying at all of the amazing architectural pieces just rotting away on some of the buildings ~ I was wondering if they would really notice some of them missing (he he ! ) I figured that probably wouldn't be a great idea ~
The plants hanging off of the balconies were gorgeous even for this time of year ~ I loved the basket over the aqua shutters ~ the pinks, aquas, plants and gorgeous architecture just amazed me so it was hard not to look like a total tourist snapping a ton of pictures ~

Welcome to my new very girly office !!!
I decided to make my oldest daughter's room, who got married, into my office ~ My office has been in my bedroom for the last 5 years, so it is wonderful to have a room of my own to make shabby girly cottage chic !!!! It was yellow and the first thing I did was paint it my favorite color pink ~
Then I added some things that I have been collecting for awhile ~ it is so funny because I have collected things for my office for so long that I had way over the amount that would fit in the room ~ but..... I am sure that I can find somewhere else for them :o)
