    Mercury Glass Family Fun

    {my niece, Chelsey }

Last week I got to go to

stay with my mom and dad in California ~

My sister, mom and I got in a crafty

mood and decided to try a

mercury glass tutorial from Pinterest ~

We started with cheapy glass pieces

    to experiment with ~

    First you we sprayed on

Krylon Looking Glass spray that we

found at Michaels ~ The tutorial

said to put it on the inside of

the glass bottle ~ I tried the candlesticks

and painted the outside and it worked great!

    {my niece, me and my mom }

The other pieces we sprayed the inside

    and the outside ~

Then you spray your piece with half

water and half vinegar and let it sit

    for a minute ~

Then you just pop the little bubbles

    with a paper towel ~

It was so fun and super easy!

Next time I want to try spraying

    something darkish first so that

    it has a darker look

    under the popped bubbles ~

  • Simple Christmas Decorating Ideas

    Simple Christmas Decorating Ideas

    This year I wanted all
    of my Christmas decorating
    to be creams, burlap,
    mercury glass and greens ~

    The challenge was to
    take things I had and
    kind of recreate them
    and also to use things
    that I had around
    my home already ~

    We have an artificial tree
    but I wanted fresh greens
    for the awesome smell ~
I went to Lowes and they
    gave me cuttings that
    were just laying around
    from their fresh
    Christmas trees ~ It was
    awesome!! I left
    with an armload ~

Then I got some of my old
    glass ornaments and
    washed them in warm sudsy
    water to make them
    turn into a wonderful
    mercury glass ~

Next I took a wreath that
    was shoved in the attic
and took off all the old
    decorations ~

    Then I added
    clippings from the greens
    all over and used
    some hydrangea
    blossoms that were still
    on bushes ~
    Then added some of the
    mercury balls that
    I had washed ~

    This is our mantel with
    stocking for my precious
    grand babies ~

    I am still using the
    hydrangeas that
I showed you in this post ~
    The colors have faded
    but they work great for
    my tree ~

    My armful of greens
    helped create all of
    these simple little
    Christmas vignettes
    and it smells great!

    Have fun decorating!

    hugs,
    Lori

  • Handmade Christmas

    Handmade Christmas

This year we wanted to renovate
    our Christmas decor, but
    we had so many Christmas
    decorations already!

So, we decided to reuse some old
decorations, add a few Black Friday
finds, and a touch of vintage
flare to make a handmade Christmas
that was in our holiday budget ~

    Our creation tools:

    Adding German Glass Glitter to
    the ornament toppers and
    music sheets to the ornaments
    added vintage touches ~

We also made some Mercury Glass
    ornaments ~
You can find the tutorial for
    Mercury Glass here ~

After a day of creating we
    had all new decorations
    for our handmade Christmas ~

    Have fun this Christmas adding
    your own handmade touches to
    your decor ~ Merry Christmas!

    White, Glitter, Mercury Glass

I am loving anything white and silver for Christmas this year so I am thinking that is how I will be decorating ~

You can find them on my website here ~

  • Vintage Pink Christmas Balls

    Vintage Pink Christmas Balls

Every year at Christmas there is something that I kind of have an obsession about and this year it is vintage Christmas balls and anything with German glass glitter ~

When we were at Canton for our one day ( not near enough time ), another thing that I found was a basket of vintage pink Christmas balls ~ First of all, vintage Christmas balls go for a premium here ~ I saw them for $24 a box of 8 at most places !! Well I was so excited to find this basket full of PINK so I had to ask how much it was even though I figured it would be too expensive ~ It was $30 for the whole basket full including the basket ~ I was sooo excited and snatched it up real quick ~

I washed some of my ugly orange ones I got last year and now they are a gorgeous mercury glass ~ I combined them with my new old pink ones in an apothecary jar ~

Apothecary jars are also one of my favorite things so I have quite a few of them around my house ~ they are wonderful because you can change them for the seasons ~

I also found this petite apothecary jar at Canton this month ~ I just fell in love with it because it is so cute with the vintage pink and white buttons ~
    It is available here ~
