  • Crinkled Ribbon Tutorial

    Crinkled Ribbon Tutorial

I just love crinkled dyed ribbon for using on my projects ~

This is a tutorial on how to make it yourself ~

First you get whatever color ribbon you want to use ~

I use seam binding for the ribbon because I love how it feels ~

Then you soak it in either tea or instant coffee ~

I scrunch mine in a ball and wrap it in about 3 rubber bands ~

Then I sit it out in the sun and as it dries it gets a wonderful aged look especially on the outside edges ~

After it has dried about 3/4 of the way, I take the bands off and kind of loosely spread the ribbon out to dry in the sun ~

Every once in awhile I go and turn the ribbon until it is completely dry ~

Then it is ready to use on your projects ~

I just love love crinkled dyed ribbon !

If you don't want to try it, I do have some for sale on my website here ~

  • Dallas Gift Market

    Dallas Gift Market

I look so forward to going to the Dallas gift markets that are a couple times a year ~ the Jan. market started today ~ I was ready to go bright and early this morning although I was kind of stressed a little bit when the news this morning said that over 50,000 people have come to Dallas to go ~ I am not much for huge crowds, I am a "find the hidden treasure kind of gal" ~ but..... off I went to see what the new trends are ~

It was tons of fun and I am ready to go back on Friday, I can't wait !!! There is so much to see !! I saw alot of soft pink Christmas trees so that made me happy ~ this show shows alot of holiday for next Christmas ~ ahhhh!!! next Christmas... I need spring and summer first, my Christmas isn't even up in the attic yet ~

This is a picture of one of the three buildings and this is just a teeny tiny portion ~

I will show you more on Friday when I get home ~ I am bound and determined to be there at 7:00 in the morning so I can park somewhat closer than the top floor of the parking complex that is way too far away ~ I also want the Starbucks coffee and Krispy Kreme donuts that they have ~ I am thinking I will hopefully walk of the million calories of the donut ~

  • ~ Paper Roses ~

    ~ Paper Roses ~

I decided to try making paper roses because I just love them ! They look so real ( on the website, I will show you later ) that I just had to try them for myself ~ they are made from coffee filters and water color paints and are kind of hard to do, I was excited to learn how to do them though ~
Take a look at this amazing paper rose website Mommy Makes Roses

This is a picture of my 2 roses ~

  • ~ My morning Tea Time ~

~ My morning Tea Time ~

For my tea time I am going to do something different and show you how I like to start my day ~ My favorite thing to do is have my tea or coffee in a pretty pink rose tea cup and do my Bible Study for the day ~ it makes my day go so much smoother and makes me just take some time to be quiet and still ~

  • ~Flea Market Day ~

    ~Flea Market Day ~

Today is one of my favorite days because it is flea market day !!! I crawl out of bed, throw on some jeans, a t-shirt and flip flops, grab a huge bag and off I go (with a cup of coffee, of course) ~ It is so hot here that all of the vendors start leaving about 10 a.m. so I have to get there around 7 or 8 ~ It was definitely box day today which thrills me since I LOVE to find old boxes ~

This is a picture of some of my treasures ~ I will be painting them tomorrow so check back to see how they have been recreated into something perfect for your shabby cottage decor ~
